Chapter 7: Rocky IX

The Cyclone lands on the rocky desert.

Sonic: So uh, now what?

Big: Let’s sing a song of Pennzoil!

Everyone else: …

Tails: Well, there are some problems with the ship so we’re stranded here. If we can get a Chaos Emerald, we should be able to fix the ship.

Shade: You can also use my Warp Belt.

Knuckles: Won’t that strand you here in the Cage though? Somehow?

Shade: Yeah. Why do you care?

Knuckles: Uhhhhhhhh-

Shadow: Get out there already!

Shadow kicks Sonic, Shade, Amy, and Omega out of the ship and follows them. A rock monster walks up to them.

Rock monster: Colony our intruding for suffer will you!

Sonic: Come again?

The rock monster shoots its boulder stomach at Sonic, knocking him out.

Shade: It’s a Kron! They make weapons for the Nocturnus and have high defense, making fights with them last forever!

Shadow: On it.

Shadow uses Chaos Rift to kill the Kron and then goes back inside the Cyclone.

Shade: You… You killed him!

Shadow’s voice: Big deal.

Shade: You didn’t have to KILL him!

Shadow’s voice: Who cares?

Shade: …

Sonic gets out from under the rock.

Sonic: Let’s go get that Chaos Emerald!

Amy nods. The two hedgehogs, one echidna, and the robot all walk along the path until they find two Krons.

Krons: DIE MUST INVADERS ALL!

Sonic: That almost made sense-

Sonic’s crushed by another boulder.

Omega: INITIATING LAUGHTER SEQUENCE-

Omega’s crushed as well. Amy proceeds to break the boulders with her hammer while Shade uses her leech blade or whatever it is to defeat the Krons. In the time that took, Sonic and Omega are free.

Sonic: Uh, let’s just keep going.

Omega: AFFIRMATIVE.

Kron 1: Ouch… Krag Foreman to speak…

Shade: We have to speak to Foreman Krag.

Sonic: You speak Kron?!

Shade: It’s not that hard to figure out, it just takes a little thinking…

Sonic: Whatever.

The four make it to Foreman Krag, inside a pipe.

Sonic: Hey guy, can-

Foreman Krag: Hedgehog the Sonic!

Sonic: Uhhh, sure, let’s go with that.

Sonic: … What?

Omega: OUR ENEMY HAS POSTED WANTED POSTERS OF US ALL OVER THE TWILIGHT CAGE.

Sonic: Oh… Can we have the Chaos Emerald?

Sonic: … So… What?

Omega: THE CHAOS EMERALD IS IN THE FACTORY WHERE THE NOCTURNUS HAVE FORCED THE KRON TO MAKE WEAPONS. THUS, WE CANNOT OBTAIN IT.

Shade: That would make sense.

Sonic: Uh-huh… Do you like working in the factory?

Foreman Krag: No.

Sonic: So if we beat up all the Nocturnus working there, will you all be free?

Foreman Krag: Likely.

Sonic: So if we do that, can we have the Chaos Emerald?

Foreman: Not why sure?

Sonic: …

Shade: “Sure, why not” he said.

Sonic: Okay, let’s do it!

And so Sonic, Shade, Amy, and Omega go to the higher reaches of the Kron Colony, cross a conveyor belt, and proceed to the far side of the colony, where the factory is. A robot runs up to them and holds its weapon out.

Robot (Gizoid): PREPARE TO DIE.

Sonic: …

Tails’ voice: Sonic, it looks just like Emerl!

Sonic: Who?

Tails’ voice: You know, that robot that we befriended until it got too much power and then we killed him? Then he was rebuilt by Eggman until you two killed him again? And then I fixed him and now he’s friends with Cream?

Sonic: Oh… Emerl… Yeah, I didn’t totally forget him at all… Nope…

Tails’ voice: …

Sonic: AXE KICK!

Sonic uses the attack on the Gizoid.

Gizoid: AXE KICK!

The Gizoid uses the attack on Sonic.

Sonic: Ow! How many hits am I taking today?!

Amy smashes the Gizoid with her hammer, breaking it.

Sonic: I can’t believe there’s another “Emerl”.

Shade: Who, the Gizoid? Yeah, us Nocturnus always had them. Ix really likes them, so if one’s guarding this factory he must really value it.

Sonic: So let’s get cracking!

Omega: NOCTURNUS ROBOTS… DESTROY! DESTROY!

Sonic/Shade: Not again…

Omega goes on a rampage, killing all the Gizoids and Nocturnus he sees. Meanwhile Sonic, Shade, and Amy head into the factory and shut it down. Foreman Krag meets them outside.

Foreman Krag: Done well. Now crystal the have can you.

Shade: Thank you.

Foreman Krag: Way the by… Bill seen guys you have? Landing ship’s your inspect to sent was he since him seen haven’t we.

Sonic: What?

Shade: I think they’re looking for that Kron that Shadow killed.

Foreman Krag: That was what?

Shade: Nothing! Let’s go, guys!

Foreman Krag: Beware! Landed have Nocturnus the! You attack will they!

Sonic: Thanks for the warning… I think.

Sonic, Shade, and Amy go into the factory to find Omega holding the red Chaos Emerald.

Omega: MISSION COMPLETED.

Sonic takes the Emerald from Omega.

Sonic: One down, six to go.

On the way back to the ship, they pass by a cave with an older echidna in it but they don’t care.

Tails: Okay, I take it you got the Chaos Emerald?

Sonic: Yep.

Tails: Okay let’s go!

The ship takes off.

Rouge: Where to next?

Shade: Other than the Nocturne in the middle, we can go to Sector Scylla or Sector Charyb. Also known as Sector Charybdis. Actually, those two are the only ones we can go to.

Cream: Is “-dis” important?

Shade: No. Sector Scylla has the N’rrgal Colony and the Zoah Colony and they fight a lot. Sector Charyb has the two Voxai Colonies, and they can control peoples’ minds, so the Nocturnus stay away from them.

Sonic: Let’s go to Sector Scylla first, it sounds easier. But which part do we land on?

Big: I like the green one! It reminds me of Froggy!

Tails: Okay!

Tails puts the ship in Hyper Drive and heads to the N’rrgal Colony.

Sonic: NOT AGAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIN!

Everyone but Sonic, Tails, and Big: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Big: WHEEEEEEEEEE!
