Chapter 6: Now We’re Playing With Power

Sonic wakes up.

Sonic: Ow… What happened?

Shade: Angel Island crashed into Metropolis, combining the two areas into a new area.

Eggman: Not to mention this island looks absolutely TACKY with my city! Oh and it also knocked out the Power Grid and opened the Hazard Vault, letting out some of my more erratic robots.

Omega: DESTROY! DESTROY-

Shadow: No, bad robot! Bad!

Omega: APOLOGIES.

Shade: It’s over.

Sonic: Well not yet, why can’t we just go in and get the Chaos Emeralds back from Ix?

Tails: That could work! We could take that spare airship in Eggman’s still-intact lab and fly it into the wormhole.

Shade: That’s the Twilight Cage.

Sonic: Ugh, I don’t want to even IMAGINE what kind of lame fiction is in there!

Shade: No, not like that. It’s an alternate dimension that acts like a prison.

Big: A prism?

Tails: Okay, Eggman and I will mess with the airship while you guys restore power to the city.

Sonic: Let’s go!

Shade: I’m helping.

Sonic: Uh, guys?

Amy: -

Knuckles: Sure, why not?

Omega: I MUST DESTROY ROBOTS OF EGGMAN’S… I SHALL ACCOMPANY THE BLUE CREATURE AS WELL.

Cream: I’ll help.

And so while everyone went into the lab, Sonic, Shade, and the two optional characters went around powering the city.

Eggman’s voice: Now that the power’s back, you gotta get the Dimensional Buffer from the Hazard Vault!

Sonic: Wha?

Tails’ voice: He’s right, without it we can’t survive the inter-dimensional travel.

Sonic: Ugh… What was in there again?

Eggman’s voice: Some of my broken robots. But most of them are running around the city now.

Omega: DESTROY! DESTROY!

Sonic: Omega, wait!

Sonic runs after him.

Shade: What’s wrong with that robot?

Cream: We don’t know… None of us really know him, ourselves.

Cream and Shade follow Sonic, who is following Omega into the Hazard Vault. A robot version of Eggman appears.

Egg Bot: WELL, IF IT ISN’T THAT HEDGEHOG, WHO I AM HATING…

Sonic: Yuck! That’s the most disgusting robot ever!

Omega: AN EGGMAN ROBOT… AND ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE EGGMAN… DESTROY! DESTROY! DESTROY!

Omega uses his flamethrower, machine gun, and beam cannon all at once on the Egg Bot, destroying him.

Eggman’s voice: My beautiful robot!

A small radio pops out of Omega’s head and plays a short fanfare.

Omega: THE DEED IS DONE.

Sonic: And here’s the Dimensional Buffer!

The four then go into the lab.

Tails: Finally! Okay, we’re just about ready.

Eggman: Good luck in there.

Sonic: You’re not going with us?

Eggman: No, I need to… Uh… Make sure you guys can return safely. Yeah, that’s it.

Sonic: This couldn’t possibly be a trick so okay!

Tails: All right everyone, we’re going into the Twilight Cage now! Onto the Cyclone!

Rouge’s voice: We’re all already on the Cyclone.

Tails: … Oh…

Tails gets on and the ship flies through the roof and into the wormhole.

Eggman: MY ROOF! … Oh well… Time to start!

Meanwhile, the Cyclone is flying through the Twilight Cage, passing by a bunch of different places.

Shade’s voice: And if you’ll look out to the left or right you’ll notice some floating pieces of land.

Everyone else’s voice: Ooh. Aah.

Tails: I’m detecting Chaos Emeralds all over this place! But which one do we go to first?

Rouge: How about the rocky desert planetoid that’s really far away?

Tails: Okay!

Tails puts the Cyclone in Hyper Drive and flies to said planetoid.

Rouge: I WAS BEING SARCASTIIIIIIIIIIC!!!

Everyone else, except Tails and Big: AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Big: WHEEEEEEEE!
