Chapter 4: Shadow and Shade (And something about a wolf)

Eggman: So that’s the part where I-

Sonic: Yeah we don’t care anymore. So what do we do?

Eggman: The Marauders are using the Chaos Emeralds to drag the Master Emerald, and Angel Island around it, toward Metropolis! Mainly because they can’t risk getting beat up by all the GUN guys in Mystic Ruins.

Tails: I could take us to there, but the Tornado isn’t up to code.

Knuckles: It’d help if you didn’t use rope for seatbelts.

Tails: Okay Knuckles! Go build your own plane! And then you can make the seatbelts out of cotton for all I care!

Knuckles: Well maybe I will!

Big: Uh! I wanna build a plane!

Big goes over to the defeated Swatbots and sits down, and then starts playing with their remains.

Everyone: …

Eggman: It’s too dangerous to fly there! We’ll fix your plane and then we can fly there!

Sonic: I don’t know if we should tru-

Tails/Knuckles: All right.

Sonic: … Fine…

Eggman: Even though it should take some time, by the time you’re ready to go we’ll be ready.

Sonic: Right…

Soon enough, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman are at the Blue Ridge Zone.

Knuckles: So this is what’s left of Station Square.

Eggman: It’s just never the same once you’ve terrorized it a few times.

Everyone else: …

Knuckles: Shadow!

They all run over to Shadow.

Sonic: Got ya!

Shadow: Not now Sonic!

Sonic: Don’t even! I can outrun you any time!

Knuckles punches Eggman like back in Chapter 1.

Shadow: Idiots…

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all beat up Shadow. Eggman crawls over to him and bops him on the knee with a wrench.

Shadow: Grr! Not here!

Shadow runs off.

Tails: You’re the only one that can catch him, Sonic!

Sonic: You don’t say…

Tails: …

Sonic runs after Shadow and tackles him.

Shadow: Ow!

Sonic: Got ya! What are you doing anyway?

Shadow: I’m looking for Omega, all right?

Sonic: … Who?

Shadow: Omega! E-123 Omega!

Sonic: … Sorry, not ringing a bell.

Knuckles: I think he’s trying to trick us.

Shadow: … He’s a giant robot that was built by Eggman! He hates Eggman and wants to destroy all other robots made by him!

Tails: We would’ve heard of a robot that hates Eggman.

Shadow: He was following me and Rouge around in Sonic Heroes and Sonic 2006!

Sonic: … Oh, that guy! What about him?

Shadow: …………………… Bye, Sonic.

Sonic: No wait! What happened to this, “Omega”? If that IS his real name…

Shadow: Ugh! He went to Metropolis but was shut down, and somehow the Marauders are involved!

Sonic: Hey! Marauders! We hate them too! Join us!

Shadow: Do I get any dramatic scenes against a villain?

Sonic: You get a part in a pirate side ques-

Shadow: Deal.

Sonic: Cool.

Eggman is removed from the party to make room for Shadow.

Shadow: Ha, I’m better than you!

Eggman: I hate that hedgehog! And this time I don’t mean you, Sonic.

Eggman goes over to pout. Meanwhile, the party heads over to the path that leads into Metropolis… But some Marauders are in the way! One of them looks different.

Apparent leader: That’s far enough.

Sonic: Nuh-uh.

Leader: … This should be interesting.

Knuckles: Shade! What have you done with the Chaos Emeralds?

Shade: They’re safe.

Shade’s helmet retracts into a headband. She’s an echidna!

Knuckles: Holy Chaos! You’re an echidna?! But how?! I’m the last one!

Shade: But here we are.

Marauders: For the record, so are we-

Knuckles: No one asked you!

Sonic: Look!

Shade: We’re not going to fall for-

Knuckles uses Uppercut while Shade is talking.

Shade: Ow! You won’t-

Shadow uses Chaos Spear on Shade’s friends and then Sonic Axe Kicks Shade.

Shade: Enough! The Nocturnus can’t be interru-

Tails: Who?

Shade: … “Marauders”.

Tails: Gasp! They have a real name for them selves!

Sonic: That’s NO good!

Shade presses a button and warps away. The button causes explosives to go off that block the path. Sonic gets a message on his communicator.

Eggman’s voice: The snow in the other part of Blue Ridge Zone should conveniently melt now, so you can enter Metropolis through there!

Everyone heads over there and finds out that Eggman wasn’t lying to them.

Shadow: Okay, this code looks very complex so – What are you doing?!

Tails: Hacking into the door.

It opens.

Shadow: …

Eggman’s voice: Guys, you can never EVER return to Blue Ridge Zone, or any of the areas you’ve been once you go through this door, unless you start a new save file all over again. So be sure you’re rea-

Sonic and the party rush in.

Eggman: Ah…

Sonic, Eggman, and the gang all head to Blue Ridge Zone to enter Metropolis, meeting Shadow, as well as Shade the Echidna, which is a shock because apparently Knuckles thought he was the only one left.

So now what awaits the team in Metropolis? We shall see.

(It's true, you can't return unless you start over. So that's why in my second time though I making sure I'm completely ready before I go.)
