Chapter 2: Knuckles Come Home! (Your fanboys miss you!)

Sonic: Okay General, what’s the deal?

General: The Marauders beat Knuckles like a redheaded stepchild and took the Chaos Emeralds like D n’ D nerds taking Mountain Dew!

Audience Member (high-pitched whisper): Hey buddy I like Mountain Dew. If you don’t like it you don’t have to drink it.

Second Audience Member (high-pitched whisper): I WAS a redheaded stepchild and my parents loved me like their own, thank you very much.

General: Uh-huh… I don’t really know what you need to do. We have Vector from Team Chaotix looking into stuff, research and all that.

Vector’s voice: According to Wikipedia, the Marauders are a group of goats.

Audience Member: I use Wikipedia every day and all the information I find is completely accurate. He’s a jerk.

Sonic: They also mentioned someone named Shade.

Vector’s voice: I’ll look into that.

Sonic: He’s not going to appear again is he?

General: Nope... I don't remember what- Oh wait yes I do! Go find two small bases around the city where Eggman used to hideout in.

Sonic and Amy finish off the Swatbots with Fastball. Sonic goes and finds a base under a manhole.

Swatbots: DIE!

Tails runs over behind a Swatbot and messes it up, causing it to explode.

Tails: Whew, that could’ve gotten annoying. Oh look, it’s a communicator! If I can reconfigure this along with another one I can probably find Knuckles!

Rouge: What do you want to bet that it’s in the other base?

Tails: No, Eggman is smarter than that. He’d probably have the other one hidden in a far away location.

Rouge then drags Tails all the way to the other base where there is indeed another communicator.

Tails: Why do you people do this to me? Oh well let’s just go back to the shop.

Everyone heads back to Tails’ workshop.

Sonic: Hey what’s this?

Sonic knocks Tails’ plant over.

Tails: … … Get out.

Sonic: What?

Tails: OUT!

Sonic: But-

Tails: We’ll come and get you when we’re done, just get OUT!

Sonic: Sheesh!

Sonic walks out. Later, he’s asleep. Tails, Amy, and Rouge come out and Amy looks at Tails.

Tails: No you can’t drag him to your place. Hey Sonic! We’re done! He’s in Mystic Ruins!

Sonic: AHPIRATESWHERE! Oh, hi Tails. Mystic Ruins eh? How do we get there, the GUN guy is blocking the way.

They fly the plane to Mystic Ruins.

Rouge: Why can’t I fly there by myself?

Tails: I get lonely.

Rouge: You have Sonic Amy with you… Oh yeah.

They land in Mystic Ruins. It’s a swamp!

Sonic: I remember Mystic Ruins being… more of a jungle. What happened? Was this the Marauders?

Tails: No, people just got real bad at preserving the environment.

Sonic: Uh-huh… What’s that?

A large silhouette is headed for them.

Tails: It looks like… Is it?!

Rouge: It can’t be… But it looks like…

Sonic: I never thought I’d see him…

All three: Big!

Big: Hi!

Tails: Hi… So what are you doing here?

Big: … Amy’s here! Yay!

Tails: Oh my… Big we need your fur and girth to protect us from the swamp gas.

Big: … My face itches.

Tails: We’ll give you ice cream.

Big: Yay!

Sonic: Rouge it’s back to the shop for you!

Rouge: Aww…

Rouge flies all the way back to the shop. Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Big find a GUN soldier.

GUN Soldier: You’ll have to solve a semi-complex puzzle to get into the ruins.

Sonic: We could… Or we could do THIS!

Tails is then seen struggling and barely lifting Big up to the entrance of the ruins.

Tails: I’m dying!

Sonic: Shut up and keep carrying him!

Tails drops Big on top of Sonic.

Sonic (muffled): Not cool.

Big: … Zounds! I evolved into a pie!

Sonic and his party enter.

Tails: Gee, it’s kind of dark… Bring a light?

Sonic: …

Big: I’m not gonna lie to you, that’s a healthy piece of real estate.

Sonic: … Right…

Sonic and his friends run away from the (at the time) tough enemies and find Knuckles beating up some Marauders.

Knuckles: Who’s your daddy?!

Sonic: I believe that’s none of your business.

Knuckles: Sonic! Of course, when I finally break out that’s when you finally get here! Sheesh!

Sonic: Well excuuuuuse me, princess!

Knuckles: That wasn’t funny when we met that cat, and it’s not funny now!

Big: I’m a song from the sixties!

Knuckles: … Big?! You’re letting BIG help save me?! Why do you hate me?!

Sonic: You know what? Fine, rot in this cell for all I care!

Knuckles: I don’t have to because like I said, I broke out!

Sonic: … Oh yeah…

Knuckles: … Let’s just go…

All five of them head outside.

Knuckles: Holy Chaos! Look!

Angel Island is floating away from the Central Continent and over to the Blue Ridge. That’s what I nicknamed those continents as of three seconds before typing said names.

Sonic: That’s odd.

Knuckles: It’s the Marauders!

Tails: To the shop!

Knuckles: Tails, they just hijacked my jobsite AND my house all in one swoop! I get to say it! … To the shop!

Tails: I can’t do NOTHIN’ in this house!

I had to push myself to finish this chapter today but I did. Chapter 2 of the story.

Sonic and friends find clues to how to find Knuckles and they eventually do. They also meet Big along the way.

A chance to recruit an optional character lies in this next chapter. And yes, I do intend on writing the two optional characters into this story. As to who they are if you haven't played yet, you'll have to wait and see. But only one of them is in the next chapter.

Tails just has it rough huh? And you probably can but can you tell why he was so upset at what Sonic did in the shop?

No I don't hate Tails. Or Amy. And surprisingly enough I don't hate Big like most people seem to.
(Froggy Rain + Awkward dialogue later on = Pwnage.)
