Chapter 12: Shadow Noah Island
The heroes and Yux defeated Dark Fiery Dino Piranha and made many Meet The Spartans references as they defeated the Shroobs again. But the Shroobs weren’t completely done for, as they’re on their way back to recapture Toad Town. Will they get their town and eat it too? Wait, why would they eat a town…?
Suddenly, Purple wakes up in a metal room.
Purple: What’s going on?
Rufus: Oh, a meteor knocked us out but then it turned out to be a ship full of people looking for people to throw in this prison for no real reason. The author thought he’d save time and skip to us being held in here.
Yux: Lame.
Rufus: Shut up, Yux.
Purple: Where are we?
Rufus: Someone said the name, “Shadow Noah Island”.
Purple: Are we all separated like in Chapter 9?
Luigi: No, we’re all here, unfortunately.
A Koopatrol walks by the cell.
Purple: What is this place?
Koopatrol: I can’t tell you that! I can only tell you my name, vim type, and position! I am Spiky Tim, Vim Type: B Positive, Position: Guarding the cell blocks of people who are going to be used to power the Metal Gizmo so we can defeat the Shroobs and takeover the world ourselves!
Fin: Aw come on, not even a hint?
Meanwhile…
Koopatrol: Sir, I think we finally have enough prisoners to charge the Metal Gizmo.
“Sir”: Good… He shall be avenged! And our enemies will be defeated at the same time!
Meanwhile…
P.T.: Mommy, what’s a Metal Gizmo?
Spiky Tim: I’m not permitted to tell you that!
He leaves.
Luigi: Oh no! We’ve gotta get out of here!
Fin: We’ll need this!
Fin uses a key to unlock the cell door. They’re free!
Purple: Where’d the key come from?
Fin: I stole it.
Purple: Of course.
They walk down the hall, but-
Egg in a cell: Take me with you!
P.T.: Are you serious?
Egg: I can fight!
Rufus throws an egg at the egg, but it knocks the egg over and it breaks.
Purple: Oooohhh…
Rufus: If he can’t fight, he can’t be important to anyone.
They continue down a hall and pass by a window.
Fin: What’s in there?
Purple: Don’t get distracted, you might get caught.
Fin: But it looks important!
Purple: Fin!
Fin: Fine!
He keeps following. What he saw was a giant, bronze, robotic Rex! They soon reach a room with conveyer belts.
Luigi: Wha? They’re making… MACHINE MA-
Purple covers Luigi’s mouth and everyone hides behind some boxes as the assembly line workers turn. They see nothing and go back to work. The heroes then come out of hiding.
Yux: Do you want us to get caught?!
Luigi: Why are they making Machine Mades of Petey Piranha, a Love Bubble, Sonic the Hedgehog, a black blob, and some guy that looks like a mix between Hamburglar and me?
P.T.: You mean Mr. L.
Luigi: Mr. Who?
P.T.: No, that’s Doctor Who. We’re talking about Mr. L, who would be you.
Luigi: You dirty liah!
Everyone else: …
Luigi: What?
Fin: Either these guys are obsessed with the earlier parts of the story and at the same time obsessed with SMRPG, or there were more people in the Subspace Army than we know. Or some other thing I don’t know about.
Suddenly a spotlight exposes the heroes and !’s appear over all their heads.
Yux: We’ve been found out!
Rufus: Shut up, Yux.
The Machine Mades then start marching towards the heroes.
Purple: All right, if we’re gonna get out of here, we’re gonna have to fight our way through.
Luigi: Okay. Remember this day, men. FOR THIS IS THE DAY WE DIE!
Everyone Else: WHAT?!
Luigi: Er, I meant this is the day our foes die, sorry.
Everyone Else: …
(Cue: “Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting”)
Everyone starts charging towards the Machine Made Subspace Army Commanders. P.T. is suddenly tackled by all the Machine Made Mr. L’s. Purple knocks away all the Machine Made Bubbles, but then gets eaten by a Machine Made Petey. The Machine Made Sonics start running everyone but Yux over, until some Machine Made Agent Darks transform into clones of Mario, which start jumping on Yux. Purple manages to free himself from the Machine Made Petey.
Purple: Yux, Randomize!
Yux: Fine. RANDOMI- Ow! RANDOMIZE!
He glows and stops.
Yux: The good news is-
All the Machine Mades explode.
P.T.: Wow! You know, this is almost as exciting as that time I helped the Trix Rabbit!
FLASHBACK!
P.T. and the Trix Rabbit ride by on a tandem bike and take Trix (part of a good breakfast) from a breakfast table. They then hide behind a bush. The Trix Rabbit starts going on about how he got the Trix, and all the different flavors.
P.T.: Woo, that was fun! Now let’s eat the Trix!
Rabbit: -Grapedy Grape, Orangey Orange-
P.T.: Yeah, I know the flavors, now come on! Before they make us give it back!
Rabbit: -I got the Trix! Finally! I got them! The Trix! They’re mine now-
P.T.: OKAY! NOW ARE WE GONNA EAT THE TRIX OR ARE YOU GONNA KEEP PATTING YOURSELF ON THE BACK?!
Rabbit: Lemoney Yellow, Grapedy Grape-
P.T. punches the Rabbit and takes the Trix for himself. Later he’s seen eating them out of a bowl, driving to somewhere. I would assume his house.
P.T.: No wonder he never gets to eat any.
Flashback over!
Yux: … Okay, and the bad news is-
Voice: WHAT DID YOU DO?!
Everyone turns to find-
Rufus: Who are you?
Person: I am… ...
Fin: Did you forget?
Person: No, I was pausing for dramatic effect! Now it’s ruined! I am… GRUBBA!
Everyone: Grubba?!
Grubba: Yes, me! Is it that hard to believe?! And I’m gonna get revenge on you for what you did to the Ancient Minister back in Chapter… was it 5 or 6?
Purple: Either way, Dark Red killed him, not us!
Grubba: You were gonna do that anyway, though!
Purple: True…
Grubba: And even if you somehow manage to beat me, you’ll never beat the rest of us!
Fin: “Us?”
Grubba: Yes, we are… THE BOWLING TEAM OF DOOM!
Announcer: Yes, the Bowling Team Of Doom! These five fellows are all trying to takeover the world and/or destroy it! And they’re also a capable bowling team! They are: The Ancient Minister…
Ancient Minister: (is dead)
Announcer: Grubba…
Grubba: Hi! You already know me!
Announcer: And the last 3 are a secret!
Rufus: I hate this island.

Shadow Noah Island. Written two years before I would learn the first thing about Metal Gear Solid and Shadow Moses Island. But now we begin my favorite story arc in this one- the Bowling Team of Doom arc. Just like the last story, I suspect that the last two arcs will be overall better than the first two. Maybe I just got more comfortable. Or maybe I'm remembering all wrong and the rest of the story sucks.
There was a picture of Fin's key, but that won't work on this site, so I had to remove that bit. There was also a modification to one of the prison guard's jokes, because the old version was just stealing a joke, and once again I couldn't help but add a new one. It just came to me.
I don't know what the deal was with that one egg that Rufus attacked. And that Trix Rabbit joke. I remember, that was blatantly an attempt at trying Family Guy cutaway humor. I wanted to see if I could do it. But now it's just filler. On the plus side, I came up with it on my own, I didn't steal it from somewhere.
I do like the idea behind the Bowling Team of Doom. They're a bowling team who also like to be super villains for the rest of their time. The way I determined who all is on the team was completely random. But this goes back to what I said about the story switching between two different antagonist factions. The Subspace Emissary arc was a precursor to the Bowling Team of Doom arc, wherein those with equal power to the Ancient Minister are all the next main villain.
This chapter served mostly as a buildup to the next few, not a lot sticks out about it. But there aren't a lot of problems either.
