Chapter 1: A Second Chance

In a past life, he was a being of pure evil. He was a giant bleeding eyeball angel monster with power over Dark Matter. He could only feel things like anger and sadness. Before that even, he had simply been an eyeball, come to seek revenge for one of his various branched off facets having lost to Kirby.

But when he came to Dreamland himself, he had died at the hands of Kirby. When he came back to life, he decided to just attack a different planet. But that didn’t work. Kirby killed him again. This time he was doing it with the help of a little fairy girl carrying him. But he was reborn once more…

Roughly a year after the events of Kirby 64, it was a rainy night. A young boy was hiding under a tree in the rain. He looked to be similar in height to the bird king that helped Kirby defeat him, either barely taller or barely shorter. The first thing you’d notice is the white skin. He had white skin. He wore a white sweater with a red zipper and clearly the sleeves were too long, as they went on for a few inches past his hands. He wore these green pants that seemed kind of ripped up toward the bottom, and white, plain shoes. He had white hair with red hues and weird red thingies dangling off the drooped spikes that made up his hairdo. Another feature of his is that he had a halo over his head. But was he dead or alive?

On his face, he had a bandage on his forehead, but it wasn’t a good one as he was still bleeding from it. He was cradling something close to him as he sat under a tree, pretty much the only thing he has left or if he even ever had anything – A rubbery doll shaped after Dark Matter. He was holding it in his arms close to his face. He was also crying a lot. But the weird thing was, he was crying blood. Somehow that didn’t leave more stain than a regular teardrop would, but I don’t know how to explain it. But really who cares?

He was reborn with only sadness now. No anger or hate was left. He didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore. He didn’t want to be hurt anymore. But then he lifted his head up and dried his eyes. If he couldn’t be happy, at the very least he could make peace with Kirby.

He stood up and walked out from under the tree and through the rain. He had one hand holding the doll, and the other covering his head. He was still sniffling. It was a short walk to Kirby’s dome house. He passed the window. Kirby and a dark blob with a silly face were having fun with some animals. One of them was a fish, and apparently Kirby had a little kiddy pool for him. The boy sighed and nervously knocked on the door.

KNOCK-KNOCK!

“Poyo?” Kirby wondered. He went over to the door and answered it. And he saw the crying boy with the doll standing in the rain.

“Poyopoyo!” Kirby stated before the boy could even do anything, as if telling him to hurry inside. So he did. Kirby jumped up and grabbed his sleeve (expecting to have grasped his hand, but he didn’t), and walked him over to the fireplace where his other friends were. The brown cat brought the boy a blanket to help keep him warm. A minute or so later, the boy motioned for a paper and a crayon on a table and Kirby brought them over.

The boy barely knew how to write having never really needed to use it, and Kirby barely knew how to read, but he had to try. The boy spent a few minutes on the piece of paper, manipulating it with the Sky-Blue crayon. When he was done, he handed it over to Kirby.

The sketch said pretty much everything. There was a crude drawing of an angel-eyeball thing, an equal sign, and a crude drawing of his face. Beneath that was another drawing of his face, another equal sign, and then a frowny face. Then below that, he wrote “SORRY”, but you can barely tell that’s what he wrote. Lastly, he wrote “WANT FRIEND” real poorly.

“Poyo?” Kirby wondered.

The child then picked up Kirby and held him real close and started crying again.

“…. Poyo!” Kirby said happily. He… had accepted the apology? The boy was shocked. But right then, for the first time in any of his lives, he was finally happy. At that point, all of Kirby’s other friends got together around the boy and hugged him, as if welcoming him to their little “family”. All was well.

Kirby rarely used his bed, instead preferring to sleep in a little nest he made out of paper and leaves. So the boy got to use the bed. He was holding the Dark Matter doll close to him like a teddy bear. He was still sniffling, despite the fact he had no nose. The storm had also stopped conveniently. The next day, Kirby had (re)-introduced his new friend to his other friends. He was introduced to the friends who lived on Pop Star at least. He was reunited with the little red thing and the little painter girl, and the blue penguin king. Kirby even showed him to some of his other friends, like some little guy in a metal mask, who really seemed neutral to anything going on around him. Anyway, as far as any of them could tell, he was welcome to stay. He was finally welcome somewhere. He was finally loved. He was finally happy.

...? What do you think? I'm not used to writing these kinds of stories. Like, at all. And I don't expect to be doing this very often. But still.

It turned out better than I expected.

In case you didn't get it, the boy was 02 from Kirby 64, reborn again. I kind of like how I was able to write this whole thing and never refer to him by name. And you should be able to know who I mean, which makes it even more successful.

I also wrote this from a third person perspective, but still from his point of view, as it's as if he only knows Kirby's name. And yes, Kirby did try to introduce him to Meta Knight, lol.

Kirby seems like the kind who'd forgive anyone in my opinion. If I feel like it, he might appear more often now. It'd also help to have the original deviant's permission. You'll see what I mean next.

It was all inspired by this one single deviation, it's real good:

EDIT 12/3:
This is now the first in a multi-chapter story. Chapter ideas by pikmingirl, written by me. Or at least that's how it looks right now.

Wow! That's really awesome! I enjoyed it! Can I make a bulletin for more people to see? :) That was pretty heart-warming so far.
